How we score robots

Every robot gets our score out of 10. It is a formula, the same for every robot, and affiliate deals never change it.

Our score

70% comes from independent reviewers. We convert each cited score to a 10 point scale and average them. 30% is value for money: where the price sits among robots for the same chore, cheaper scores higher.

A robot without independent test scores shows "not scored" instead of a guess. It still appears, after the scored robots.

Completeness check

Each page earns points for a dated price, 6 or more specs, a written verdict with pros and cons, a cited test, 3 or more sources, a licensed photo, a place in a ranking and version history. Pages under 70 of 100 stay visible to visitors but are hidden from search engines until we finish them.

Prices

Prices are checked every day from the sellers we link. Each price shows the date we checked it. If a price changed after that, the seller's price wins.

Safety and status

We check the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recall database, FCC authorization where relevant, and whether the maker is still trading.
